Abstract

The discussion aims to analyze, in a systematic way, the necessary path to conceive,
design and assemble an apparatus in order to enable an automation level
upgrade of a three-wheeled motorcycle. The dissertation, firstly discusses an analyzes
the main definitions that characterize the autonomous driving capabilities
of a vehicle. From the results of this first analysis, we proceed with the formulation
of specific apparatus’ architectures leveraging on a proposed systematic way
to carry out the design phase. Later on, it is shown the implementation of such
architectures on a stock three-wheeled motorcycle. Finally, the overall robustness
of the system against malfunctions is analyzed, and design solutions are proposed
to mitigate these considered risks.
